As a direct successor of Kazi Wren's "Ragnarok: A Sanctioned Fansite of Human Head Studios' RUNE", created in November 1999, .... it is.
As Kazi later explained in the "First RuneGame.com Anniversary" thread"

I learned about Rune in 1999 at E3, started "RAGNAROK" a fan site for it in Nov. 1999. In April 2000, Human Head asked me to create and run their official site, "RuneGame." I merged all of Ragnarok's content into RuneGame, added new sections and such, then launched/relaunched as RuneGame on Sept. 1, 2000. The game was released officially on Nov. 1.
I started RAGNAROK because I believed in the game and the developers. I met some of them 1999, and the rest of the gang in Jan. 2000. Rune was a game I was excited about and I didn't give a damn if it became as big as fill-in-the-blank-big-name-game-here.

Unless you want to be picky and say it is only 10 years old because RuneGame.com was "only officially" launched September 1, 2000 
In the past 11 years the RuneGame.com community has grown into a close family of avid players of RUNE and HOV. Whose loyalty, devotion, imagination and skills have created a host of maps, mods, and more to delight of all. The community has weathered its' share of storms, flames, frolic and, recently, masterserver woes too. Yet, as all Einherjar know, these have only been a test of a warrior's resolve to remain determined and continue on.
Although newer games come along to lure players away, Rune's "Gjallarhorn" sounds to draw them back to its' cyber "Vigrid Plain".
In honor of that occasion, here is a repeat of RuneGame.com's first Birthday and 10th Anniversary announcements:

Gathering of Developers turned Kazi's "Ragnarok" fansite into the Official Website on September 1, 2000 before RUNE's release in October. Human Head Studios was the only GoD developer who had a separate Official Website made for their game. But by doing so, it insured the community would still have a "home" after GoD folded five years ago (late November 2004).
I joined "Ragnarok" in February 2000 after reading Kazi's preview of RUNE (and HH) in 3dActionplanet.com. Later, she asked me to become Co-Administrator to help out and the rest you all know.

Kazi established it in November 1999 as "Ragnarok: Official Fansite of "RUNE". Chad Savage is still with the graphics and she had some other help from Bluto/G'Money who wrote up some Viking info at first. I came in February 2000.
Those were the early times of days with few posts. But as the word got out....the community started to grow!

As of early this morning (2:30 PST), the GameSpy Masterserver came back up!.
The Masterserver "In-Game" inquiry now lists and shows ALL Rune/HOV servers!
I know the RuneGame.com community sends a great "Viking Shout of Joy" along with their heartfelt "Thanks" to the GameSpy techs for fixing the "In-Game time out" problem! Mon - Aug 30, 2010 GameSpy Masterserver update posted: 06:01 am by: Laurie
GameSpy is still experiencing server problems since completing their Datacenter move/upgrades August 26, 2010. This has created an across the globe servers downtime for most New and Old games using their system.
The GameSpy [WIZ} techs have been busy answering all gamer postings on those forums. The GameSpy "higher up" have been notified and it is our sincere hope the problems will be fixed soon.
There are other major servers you can use but they do not have ALL of Rune/HoV servers listed. the Best Alternative (as other game players are finding) is using "Direct Server IP Addresses" to connect with
With Rune/HOV players, Contact the server masters and/or Clans who host servers to obtain their IP addresses. Also check our own RuneGame.com's Server IP Addresses "Sticky" any you may have missed through the link below.

GameSpy Masterserver is down for ALL PC Game Servers during a scheduled Aug. 25th to Aug. 26th 2010 Datacenter move. According to their "Online Matters Weblog", this should only take a few hours depending on your time zone.

If you still have any problems, be sure to visit our Server IP Addresses Sticky to find you favorite Rune/Hov server IP address to add to your MP Menu "Favorites" through your Rune.ini.
