One of the best Deviants out there:
http://anatheme.deviantart.com/gallery/ His art is mildly described as something macabre, but while browsing through his work you'll find a spot of some kind of a fire here and there. |

how much does it this one, its close to a special art of a gurkha knife
yes, that one with the "bird-head and -wings" and the white stuff inbetween ancient gurkha knife its wonderful :D |
The "gurkha knife" and hilt closeup is a Macedonian/Greek "Kopis" short sword. The hilt itself is "shaped" where the pommel/grip/guard are "sandwiched" rather than having a "tang" like a Viking/medieval sword for everything to fit over
The Kopis hilt motif is an eagle's head following the contures of the pommel and it's wings or feathers on the guard. There is a lapis lazulai stone for the "eye" The grip is two piece and elkhorn. The blade is about 26 inches long. The Iberian Celts also had one with a slightly different grip and called it a "Falcata". You see the movie "Alexander" using one in particular. It is believed that the Gurkha's "Kukri" blade shape was influenced by the Macedonian Kopis after Alexander marched through that area of Northern India and Hindu Kush/Afganistan. The Gurkhas do use a large Kukri sword of similar shape to their knives. The "knife" below the Kopis hilt closeup, is a Thracian "Macheria" or sickle short sword/knife. This has a tang and the end was peened over but some existing finds showed using rivets as well and why this one has these. This one was based on an actual find from Bulgaria that the customer possessed. The engraved "eagle" and "Star" is based on other Macheria with this motif. Both Kopis and Macheria would have been used by some Alexander's Thracian troops from what is now Bulgaria. In one scene where Alexander is about to face the Elephants, a group of Thracian "knifemen" are called up. However, the actors are actually using a later form called a "Falx". |
THANK YOU, its amazing :D
i will go for a dvd of alexander over the weekend . . . can you dollar me a pm *lol* |
