1.09 Progress

The buzz on this forum about the 1.09 project has been minimal. Don't think there isn't alot going on, but if we talked about it all day, we'd never get anything done. I think it's time for a report on the development progress.

1.09 Mutator / Mod package

Version is currently Alpha 09b (beta well begin at 11 -> 01)
What's Included:

From =iNi=Deliverance,
- Sloth's Open Source, verbatim. Only thing changed was a different .ini path
- Sloth's incredible Sark Skins. Replaces sarks with non-crashing beautiful elemental sarks via an AntiTCC SpawnNotify implementation of NixTheUndead I called "SlothTheUndead" to credit the skin maker. Implied credit to Lar for his original blackmagic, although the code more closely resembles Chakuza's AntiTCC, which reminds me:

From blitznuckel,
- Arena.u, an originally written update to the original Arena which supports automatic teamsize changing without map reloading. Similar in function to ArenaMatch03, with far fewer bugs, less CPU used, and 100% original code.
- Case insensitive 1.08 redirected downloads! (PHP script)

From Chakuza,
- AntiTCC2, I know it's inefficient and outdated. But, the way it handles custom player classes and copies them to a generic player is the best I've seen. Edited to split into 2 class sets (1 anticheat and 1 without, but supporting new content). Also edited to configure which things are allowed, and soon I'll add a simple 'serverinfo' command for the client to list what is currently protected and what isn't.

From MacBeth, with thanks to the authors of BMScoreBoard and CritterKick,
- SATools3c, removed admin commands. Input forwards to SOSSettings with more functions and a SATools visual interface
- Sheena's Choice, renamed ItemSwap
- Uses DwarfBattleSword2 fixed to enable the bloody weapon texture
From Sythest,
- Uses Sythest's RuneWeapons.RuneAxe, Optionally replaces default with ItemSwap
- Same goes for Sythest's RuneWeapons.RuneSword

What have I been doing?
- Making several popular mods and mutators play nice, and efficiently without bugs.
- Re-Write of NixTheUndead, and SlothTheUndead using Chakuza's AntiTCC method. Original author credit and comments unchanged.
- RMenu.u. Designed a template system that allows high resolution Menu skins. To be honest, it's my first originally written code. I've written original lines and sections before during edits but this worked out really well.

The JuNN Mappers are busy creating some impressive looking maps, as is VikingWasDead. Gorm has some really exciting ideas but those are in the concept phase still.

The native source code modding is on hold until the c++ savvy members have some free time. If the unrealscript stuff is pretty much finished before the source is started, I'll pick up this c++ guide I have sitting around.

Zisu, I'm still waiting on the 1.08 UWindow sources so I can include 1.08 redirection in 1.09. Also you spoke of a "force client to re-download cached mutators" server side mutator. You said I could use them, and these are both essential to the project but I'm getting ignored on MSN. Please help us help Rune. That I'd have to practically beg for this stuff is terrible.

Deliverance, I'm not 100% sure if those sarks are correctly modeled, and if it's your wish for me not to use them in this manner, please let me know. I thought it looked cool in the alpha build. Also get with me on the 1.09 forum about your wishes for SOS's inclusion in 1.09, and what limits you would like, if any.

Most of all, I'm thrilled with what's been done. It leaves me speechless that a community for a should-be-dead 10 year old game has such creative talent. I'm honored to be working alongside you all, even if we don't see eye to eye all the time.
